The Royal Card is the official multi‑purpose photo ID card for students, faculty, and staff at the University of Scranton. It serves as a campus identification card and provides access to University facilities and services, as well as optional prepaid debit functionality for on‑campus purchases.
What the Royal Card Is Used For
The Royal Card functions as a:
- University photo ID (must be carried at all times)
- Meal plan card
- Library card
- Access card for residence halls, select academic buildings, and 24‑hour access to the Pro Deo Room in the Library
- Prepaid debit card for approved campus services once funds are deposited
Where the Royal Card Can Be Used
When a deposit account is active, the Royal Card may be used at:
- University dining facilities
- University Bookstore
- Campus vending machines
- Laundry facilities
- University Printing Services
- Weinberg Memorial Library copy machines and internet printing
- Parking decals and fines
- Biology and Chemistry supplies
- Special events and University Players shows
Royal Card Deposit Account
A Royal Card deposit account allows cardholders to prepay for goods and services on campus.
- Deposit accounts are automatically created for students, faculty, and staff
- The Royal Card is not a credit card
- Account balances cannot go below zero
- The card cannot be used for cash or cash advances
Adding Funds to a Royal Card
Funds can be added by:
- Using the Royal Card Online Card Office
- Depositing in person or by mail through the Bursar’s Office
Accessing the Royal Card Online Card Office
The Online Card Office allows users to:
- Add funds
- View account balances
- Review transaction history
- Deactivate a card if lost or stolen
Access is available through my.scranton.edu → eAccounts. Third‑party access is also supported.
Obtaining a Royal Card
- Incoming freshmen who submit photos during summer Orientation receive their Royal Card by mail in August
- Graduate students coordinate through Graduate and Continuing Education Services
- Faculty, staff, and students without a photo on file should visit the Technology Support Center (TSC) in Alumni Memorial Hall during business hours
Lost, Stolen, Failing or Damaged Royal Cards
Lost or stolen cards must be reported immediately to the Royal Card Office at the TSC. Failing or damaged cards should be returned to the TSC immediately for assessment and possible replacement.
- The card will be deactivated
- A replacement card will be issued
- A replacement fee applies
Royal Card Readers
- Students cannot request Royal Card readers directly
- Requests must be submitted by a faculty or staff moderator on behalf of a group
- Reader requests are submitted through the Royal IT Support system
