Which wireless network should I use?

The University of Scranton provides multiple wireless network options to support students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. Choose the network that best fits your role and location.

By using any of these networks, you agree to follow the University of Scranton’s computing policies and applicable laws. Network activity may be monitored to keep systems secure and running smoothly. Failure to comply may result in loss of network access and other consequences.

ROYALSECURE (Primary Campus Network)

Who should use it:
Students, faculty, and staff

About:
ROYALSECURE is the University’s secure, campus‑wide wireless network. It provides full access to University resources and internet connectivity across campus locations.

Key features:

  • Secure connection using University credentials
  • Available throughout campus
  • Supports laptops, tablets, and mobile devices
  • Helps reduce cellular data usage

ROYALAIR provides  wireless internet access for clientless, wireless devices such as ereaders, streaming and gaming devices. This network is not secure and should not be used for sensitive activity.

How do I connect my ereader, streaming or gaming device to a wireless network?

eduroam (Education Roaming Network)

Who should use it:

  • Visitors from participating higher‑education institutions
  • University of Scranton students, faculty, and staff when traveling

About:
eduroam is a secure international roaming service that allows users from participating institutions to connect to Wi‑Fi at member campuses worldwide using their home institution credentials.

Important note:
While on the Scranton campus, University students, faculty, and staff should continue to use ROYALSECURE. The eduroam network on campus is intended primarily for visitors.
